This NVQ Level 3 Diploma in Cladding Occupations is a flexible, work-based qualification that officially recognizes the skills and experience of those who work installing rainscreen wall cladding or roof sheeting and cladding systems. The qualification does not involve any training or exams. Instead, applicants must gather evidence of their competence in the qualification’s criteria while they are on the job.
This NVQ will enable you to:
- Formally recognize your skills, experience, and competence working with and installing cladding.
- Improve your employability.
- Progress your career.
- Become eligible for a Gold Supervisor CSCS Card.
Who is this qualification for?
This qualification is for those involved in installing Rainscreen wall cladding systems and/or roof sheeting and cladding systems that involve curved and complex roof and wall formations in the workplace. Applicants should already be employed in a construction job where they work installing cladding systems.
There are two pathways for candidates to choose from:
- Roof and wall sheeting and cladding
- Rainscreen wall cladding systems
Each pathway covers the installation of the cladding systems as standard. You can then choose whether to include more advanced optional units, including those covering refurbishing and repairing the systems.
Assessment Process:
You will be assigned an occupationally competent assessor who will assist you with gathering the evidence required and help you complete the qualification. You will primarily communicate with your assessor remotely by telephone or email. However, they will likely also attend your workplace once or twice to help with gathering evidence.
You will be required to submit a ‘Portfolio of Evidence’ showing how you have met the performance and knowledge criteria for each unit required within the qualification. The evidence will include observation reports by the assessor, assignments/projects/reports, professional discussion, witness testimony, worksheets, and records of oral and written questioning.

Pathway 1 Roof and Wall Sheeting and Cladding-pathway (Mandatory):

- T/508/0366 Installing sheeting and cladding rainwater goods in the workplace
